Dementia in the Community – Salopian Care Can Help You

Demand for Community Care continues to grow as we all live longer and are not immune to ailments and ageing. Sometimes the onset can be rapid or a slower accumulation that unfolds. The care needs can be debilitating for both the individual concerned and the supporting family member(s).

Individuals need access to a variety of care offerings, some on a regular basis and others more ad-hoc to provide a welcome break or fit in other life commitments.  All care needs are individual and need a Personal Care plan.

Dementia is an example of a progressive condition that requires increasing care over a long period and the family member can sometimes naturally feel initially ill-prepared and equally worn down over a period of time. Fortunately resources are available and Salopian Care is pleased to support the Dementia Awareness initiative launched by the Alzheimers Society.

We have also created a Resource Centre to collate information from the various agencies providing Advice for dementia, this is available freely from our office.

Salopian Care have a long-term commitment to provide support both for the individuals affected by Dementia, and their carer’s, to enable them to continue to live full and rewarding lives within their own homes and local community. This can be for both regular and ad-hoc elements. Over 73% of our care staff are already trained to support people with Dementia and Sam Calton is our Senior Dementia Advisor.

Salopian Care has the highest rating by Care Quality Commission and are part of Shropshire Council’s Domiciliary Care Framework and a participant in “The Social Care Commitment” initiative launched by the Department of Health.
